Developer Rules

What a game needs to pass review on izy.gg and stay published. They are part of the Terms of Use. If you are unsure whether your game fits, ask us before you submit.

1. How review works

Every new game is checked by a person, usually within 2 working days. Updates that change the listing are checked the same way. You get the result by email at your studio's contact address and in the developer portal.

An update that only replaces the build may be approved automatically when the automated checks find nothing unusual: the security scan is clean, the izy.gg SDK is present, no new outside domains appear, and the size and structure of the build are close to the previous version. Everything else goes to a person. We may check an automatically approved update later and roll back to the previous version.

After the first approval, the title, description, category and tags are fixed. If they need to change, write to us. The how-to-play text, cover, video and build can be updated through review.

We may check published games again at any time, for example after player reports. If a game no longer meets these rules, we ask you to fix it or unpublish it.

If you disagree with a decision, reply to the email or write to direct@izy.gg.

2. Technical requirements

  • A zip with index.html at the root (or inside one folder): up to 100 MB packed, 300 MB unpacked and 3,000 files.
  • Everything the game needs is in the zip and loaded by relative paths. Load from other servers only over HTTPS and only what the game really needs (an engine, fonts, a CDN); every new outside domain is checked by a moderator.
  • No executables or server-side scripts (.exe, .php, .sh and the like are rejected), no cryptocurrency miners. Service workers, packed or obfuscated code and similar techniques get a closer look and may be refused if we cannot see what they do.
  • The game runs in a sandboxed frame on games.izy.gg and must work there: it must not depend on a particular address, try to leave the frame, change or redirect the top page, or open pop-ups.
  • It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, and if you mark it as playable on mobile, also in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android.
  • No errors, freezes or crashes in normal play, when the window is resized or the device is rotated, when the tab is hidden and shown again, or around ads.
  • It loads fast: show a loading indicator, and the first playable screen should appear within about 20 seconds on an average connection. Load large assets later when you can.
  • It fills the frame at any size and aspect ratio, with nothing cut off and no overlapping interface. It does not scroll the page or trigger pull-to-refresh, and the main controls fit on the screen.
  • On touch devices the game is fully playable by touch, and a long press does not select text or open a menu. Keyboard controls work with any keyboard layout and avoid shortcuts reserved by the browser or the system.
  • Sound stops when the tab is hidden or the game loses focus, and the game offers a way to mute sound or follows the mute setting from izy.gg.
  • The game is finished: not a demo, a placeholder or a work in progress, and it has at least one real game mechanic. Controls are explained in the game or in the how-to-play text.

3. The izy.gg SDK

The SDK script is required: a build without it cannot be sent for review. Use it as described in the SDK documentation:

  • report loading progress, and report that the game is ready only when the player can actually start (no loader on screen);
  • call gameplayStart when play begins or resumes and gameplayStop when it stops (a level ends, a menu opens, the game is paused);
  • on the pause event stop the game loop and all sound, and continue only on resume. izy.gg sends pause around every ad;
  • keep progress with izy.save() and izy.load(): it must survive a page reload, and must not be lost because of an ad;
  • start in the player's language (the SDK tells you which) when the game supports it.

4. Ads and money

  • Ads only through the izy.gg SDK. No other ad networks, own banners, sponsor screens, cross-promotion, links to other game sites or app stores, and no imitation ads (for example a fake interstitial or a fake reward button).
  • Interstitials only at natural breaks, such as between levels or after a game over, never during play. izy.gg enforces the limits: no interstitial in the first 90 seconds and at most one every 2 minutes.
  • Rewarded ads only when the player chooses: a button that says an ad will play and what the reward is. Give the reward only when the SDK confirms it. A reward is a bonus (an extra life, a booster, coins), never the only way to progress.
  • No invalid traffic: do not reward or ask players to click ads, do not place ads where they are clicked by mistake, never click your own ads or use bots. Earnings from invalid traffic are cancelled and may lead to closing the studio.
  • No payments of any kind inside the game: no in-game purchases, subscriptions, donations, real-money gambling, lotteries, prizes, cryptocurrency or NFTs.

5. Players, accounts and privacy

  • The game is playable without any registration. No own sign-in and no sign-in with other services. If the player is signed in to izy.gg, the SDK gives you their nickname and avatar to show in the game.
  • Do not collect personal data: no names, emails, phone numbers, locations, photos or contacts, no device fingerprinting, and no analytics or trackers of your own. Statistics for your game are in the portal.
  • Chat, player names or other content made by players are allowed only with a filter for offensive words and active moderation, and you are responsible for that content. Tell us about such features when you submit.
  • Features that generate text, images or voice from what players type (for example an AI chatbot) need our approval before you submit. Assets made with AI tools in advance are fine.

6. Content rules

izy.gg is visited by a wide audience, including children and teenagers. Games must not contain:

  • sexual content, nudity or erotic content. Any sexual content involving minors, including drawn or AI-generated, means immediate removal, closure of the studio and a report to the authorities;
  • realistic gore, torture, or cruelty to people or animals. Cartoon or stylised action and mild horror are fine;
  • hate, discrimination, harassment, or content that mocks people for their origin, religion, gender, disability or other traits;
  • extremist or terrorist symbols and propaganda, real political parties and campaigns, and games that exploit current wars, disasters or tragedies;
  • promotion of drugs, alcohol, tobacco or weapons, self-harm, suicide or dangerous challenges;
  • strong profanity in any language;
  • instructions for crimes, scams, phishing, fake system messages or fake virus warnings, and anything else illegal in Singapore, the European Union or the main countries of our players.

7. Rights and originality

  • You own or have licenses for everything in the game: code, engine, graphics, music, sounds, fonts, characters, names and brands. No characters, brands or music from other games, films or shows without a license.
  • No clones or reskins of other games, and no copies of your own games with small changes: a new game must be substantially different. A new version of the same game is an update, not a new game.
  • Open-source code is fine when its license allows it and you follow the license, for example attribution. Do not use licenses that would require us to publish izy.gg's own code.
  • Material made with AI tools is allowed when you have the right to use it and it meets these rules.

8. Listing: title, texts and media

  • Title: the same as in the game, up to 80 characters (shorter is better), no ALL CAPS, emoji, years or words like “free”, “best” or “top”, and no lists of keywords. Each of your games has its own title.
  • Description: what the game is about and why it is fun, accurate and in full sentences. No links, contact details, mentions of other platforms or keyword stuffing.
  • How to play: the real controls for every supported device (keyboard, mouse, touch).
  • Languages: list only the languages the game actually supports, with a listing in each of them. Automatic translation is available; check it before you submit.
  • Category and up to 6 tags that really describe the game. Orientation and mobile support must match how the game works.
  • Cover: JPG, PNG or WebP up to 2 MB. It is shown at 16:10 (800 by 500 pixels), so keep the important part in the middle. Use art from the game, without text over most of the image, borders, platform badges or anything misleading.
  • Video (optional, recommended): MP4 or WebM up to 25 MB, real gameplay of this game, without ads, watermarks of other platforms or footage from other games. A short loop of 15 to 30 seconds in 16:9 works best.

9. Updates and support

  • Keep the game working. Fix serious bugs that players report in reasonable time and answer reports in the portal.
  • An update keeps it the same game. A substantially different game is submitted as a new game.
  • Unpublish a game rather than leave it broken. Games that stay broken or receive many justified complaints may be hidden or unpublished.
  • Give us your updates no later than you give them to other platforms.

10. When rules are broken

Small problems: we ask for changes and the game or update waits until they are made. Serious problems: we reject the game or unpublish it. Severe or repeated violations (malware, phishing, sexual content involving minors, fraud, invalid traffic): immediate removal, closure of the studio and cancellation of earnings, and where required a report to the authorities.

What a violation is and which measure fits is decided by izy.gg. We explain our decisions and listen to your side.

11. Questions
